What you should know about Antalya Termessos Ancient Town
Termessos Ancient City is located in the east of Antalya, which is known for its magnificent natural beauties. Termessos was a strong settlement in the Pisidian region, at an altitude of 1050 metres, and was very vulnerable due to radiation. Therefore, even in the 4th century BC, after Alexander the Great conquered the Persian Empire, Termessos was able to maintain its defences and was never taken.
The ancient city of Termessos spreads over the hills and its ruins include numerous buildings such as the theatre, the agora, the gymnasium, the baths, the agora, the cisterns and the towers. The theatre, with a capacity of about 4000 people, is very well preserved and worth seeing.
Another important feature of the ancient city of Termessos is its natural beauty and rich biodiversity. The region where the city is located is surrounded by mountains and forests and offers beautiful views. There is a rich natural life here such as mountain goats, rabbits, jackals, snakes and many species of birds.
There is an entrance fee to the ancient city of Termessos. As the ancient city can get very hot in the summer months, visitors should wear comfortable clothing and take plenty of water with them. It is also important to wear comfortable shoes when visiting the ancient city, as walking around the city can be quite strenuous.
